​A 21-1 third-quarter run thwarted Brookfield's play for an upset, as Macon cruised to a 53-19 victory.
​Hunter Gray posted six points, and Colton Pfeifer had five points for the Bulldogs, who trailed just 26-18 at halftime.
Jaxon Sibley scored four points, Gage Hall-Wells had two points, and Alex Bennett and Brock McLaury each added a free throw.

Brookfield fell to visiting Macon in both ends of a hoops doubleheader.
The Lady Tigers cruised to a 62-32 victory in the opener, and the Tigers outlasted the Bullodogs in the nightcap, 53-33.
Emree Littrell scored six points and had two steals, while Jerzi Fields (3 rebounds, block) and Emma Meyer (rebound, block) each scored five points, and Maggie Bennett (4 rebounds, assist, steal) and Greenlee McCollum (3 rebounds, 2 assists, steal) had four points apiece.
Breckin Thudium (5 rebounds) and Sam Sharp (4 rebounds, assist, steal) each had three points, and Gracyn Beckman (3 rebounds) added two points for the Lady Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs were in the boys game through the first three quarters, trailing by only six at the half and 10 after three quarters. However, the Tigers pulled away with a 16-6 run in the final eight minutes.
Hayden DeJong (2 rebounds, assist) posted 18 points, and freshman Alex Bennett (3 rebounds) scored seven points.
Brayden Shoop (team-high 8 rebounds, assist) scored four points, and Bryson Shoop (3 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) and Coldon Parrent (5 rebounds) each added two points. Kendrell Carter pulled down five rebounds and had an assist and steal, and Ross Ehrich had two boards for the Bulldogs.

Following a competitive 31-23 defeat to Moberly just two days ago, the Spartans cruised to a 41-10 win against the Bulldogs, who played shorthanded with a player out injured, in their second meeting.
Brylie Riepe scored seven points and had two rebounds, while Abbie Boley (7 rebounds, 3 steals) scored two points, and Rozlyn Severa (4 rebounds, steal) added a free throw.
Izzy Haley hauled in six rebounds, and Kaylee VanWagoner had one board.

Brookfield's suffocating man-to-man defense paved the way to a 26-16 victory against Chillicothe.
The Bulldogs held the Hornets to five first-half points, while building a nine-point lead they would not surrender.

Brock McLaury posted five points, and Alex Bennett added four points.

Breckin Thudium and Milee McCollum each connected on free throws, as Brookfield slipped past Chillicothe, 31-30, in an overtime thriller.
The Lady Dogs, fueled by a 15-5 second-quarter run, led 21-12 at the half, but the Hornets went ahead 25-24 at the close of the third quarter with a 13-3 run. Emma Meyer scored three of her team-high eight points to help forge a tie at the end of regulation.
Kierstyn Sutch (2 threes) also posted eight points, while Shane Lumsden had six points. Milee McCollum finished with five points, and Holly Sensenich added three points. 
 

Brookfield fell to Moberly, 39-19, but the final score was not indicative of the effort and improvement made by the Bulldogs.
"They played and executed much better," Coach Taff said. "There were a lot of positives."
Ronnie Sharp (4 rebounds, 2 steals) led the 'Dogs with eight points, while Layne Hoerrmann (3 rebounds, 2 steals) and Shelden Clark each scored four points.
Trenton Bunnell (2 rebounds) had two points, and Braydon Hicks (4 rebounds, steal) added a free throw.
Calvin Sensenich pulled down a rebound.

Tanner Kenison and Levi Holt each scored three points in the "B" team's loss.
Trace Knowles had four rebounds and a steal to go along with a free throw, while Bronson Burns (steal) and Isaac Adams each had two rebounds, and Bentley Bendure and Xander Wright had a rebound apiece.

Brookfield captured its first victory of the season, knocking off Fulton, 32-19, in the Moberly MS Basketball Classic. With the win, the Lady Dogs finished in third place.
Brookfield started slowly against the Hornets, but a Kaylee VanWagoner basket midway though the first quarter put the Lady Dogs ahead for good. An 11-0 run, fueled by Abbie Boley's six points, gave the 'Dogs a 17-4 halftime lead.
Boley finished with eight points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.
Rozlyn Severa (7 steals, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, block) netted seven points, while Izzy Haley (8 rebounds, 3 steals) and Kaylee VanWagoner (2 rebounds, 2 steals, assist) each scored six points. Briley Riepe (rebound, steal) scored four points, and Kailynn Miller, who was left the game with an injury early in the second quarter, had a free throw and four rebounds.

Severa (2 rebounds, 2 assists, steal) scored five points, while Boley (2 rebounds, 2 steals, assist) had four points, and Van Wagoner (2 rebounds, 2 steals) chipped in two points. Haley pulled down five rebounds and had a block, and Riepe had two rebounds an a block.

Brookfield dropped a pair of games at the Moberly MS Basketball Classic. ​Despite the losses, the Bulldogs, who lost to Moberly and Kirksville, showed marked improvement against very talented competition.
Ronnie Sharp paced the 'Dogs with a combined 14 points, 19 rebounds, an assist, steal and block, while Shelden Clark collected 13 points, 10 rebounds, an assist and steal; Braydon Hicks recorded seven points, and six rebounds; and Layne Hoerrmann posted six points, two assists, a rebound and a steal in both games.
