Brookfield's girls relay teams took top honors in two events, and the boys won four individual events at Thursday's Brookfield Middle School Open #1.
Both squads finished a distant second to Chillicothe, its team clearly outnumbering the other five schools in the field. The girls collected 120.5 points, while the boys recorded 114 points. The 4x100 relay team of Payslie Alexander, Lexi Littrell, Piper Thudium and Reese Neal breezed past the competition, winning in 58.36, while the 4x200 squad of Holly Sensenich, Littrell, Thudium and Neal cruised in 2:05.76 for 20 points. Alexander added another nine points with a 4th in the 200 (15.53) and 5th in the long jump (3.79m). Thudium (2nd, long jump - 4.28m) and Littrell (2nd, 200 - 30.75) recorded eight more points, Reese (3rd, 100 - 15.24) and Sensenich (7th, 400 - 1:20.6; 5th, triple jump - 7.89m) had six additional team points. Rozyln Severa earned 18.5 points with runner-up finishes in the 800 (3:08.85) and 1600 (6:52.71) meter runs and tied for 6th in the high jump (1.07m). Shayne Lumsden shined in the field events with a 2nd in shot (9.33m) and 3rd in discus (19.07m), collecting 14 points. Makenna Munsterman (5th, shot - 8.22; 4th, discus - 18.23) had nine points, and Madalynn Williams (7th, 200 - 33.38; 8th, 100 - 16.07; 8th, triple jump - 7.64) had eight points. Jovie Staddie (5th, 100 - 15.73) and Natalie Lovenduski (5th, 1600 - 7:35.51) each had four points. Taryn Montgomery (6th, shot - 7.9m), Kailynn Miller (7th, shot - 7.67) and Kaylee Vanwagoner (8th, 800 - 3:28.13) combined to record six points. Alexander (9th, 200), Neal (9th, triple jump), Ugochi Chukwu (9th, discus) and Izzy Haley (9th, shot) earned top-10 results. Ryder Cochenour won the long jump with a leap of 4.89 meters and scored in three other events (3rd, 100 - 13.71; 3rd, 400 - 1:02.39; 5th, 200 - 29.08) to earn a team-high 26 points. Vann Duncan won the 100 hurdles in 17.93 and high jump at 2.32m to collect 20 team points, while Ronnie Sharp won in discus (26.98m) and had a 5th in high jump (1.27m) for 14 points. Deacon Brown shined in four events (3rd, high jump - 1.27m; 3rd, long jump - 4.78; 3rd, triple jump - 9.37m; 5th, 400 - 1:05.38), scoring 22 points. Jaxon Sibley (4th, 400 - 1:04.77; 7th, 200 - 29.54; 7th, shot - 8.36m; 8th, 100 - 14.35) and Lewis Defries (3rd, 1600 - 6:00.96; 5th, 800 - 2:51.17) each had 10 points, while John Foster (6th, 400 - 1:06.48; 7th, long jump - 4.62) had five points. Eli Yates (7th, 100 hurdles - 22.15; 8th, 800 - 2:55.26) and Emmet Haley (6th, shot - 8.67m) scored three points apiece, and Sawyer Hoerrmann (8th, 1600 - 6:48.61) added a point. Connor Allen (9th, 100; 10th 200), Duncan 9th, 200), Defries 10th, long jump), Hoerrmann (9th, triple jump), Haley (9th, discus) and Aiden Glasgow (9th, shot) had top-10 results.
