Brookfield topped the podium in six events - three each for the girls and boys teams at Thursday's Trenton Early Bird Track & Field Meet. The girls finished second to Penney (136) in the team results with 102 points, while the boys were fourth with 79 points. Penney was first with 119 points.
Samantha Sharp won the 3200 run in 12:22.27, and finished second in the 1600 in 5:49.56, recording 18 team points. Lilly Lindsay won the shot put with a heave of 8.62 meters for 10 points. Maggie Bennett, Jenna Keller, Jayden Keller and Kylin King teamed to win the 4x400 relay in 4:33.26 for another 10 points. Clara Hoyt placed in three events for 16 points. She was third in the 800 (2:52.23), fourth in the 1600 (6:31.16) and third in the 3200 (14:33.23. King (400, 1:04.76) and Bennett (100 hurdles, 18.7) had runner-up finishes for eight points each, and the 4x100 relay team of Jayden Keller, King, Emree Littrell and Maddie Wilbeck also finished second (56.35) for an additional eight points. Molly Cross was third (six points) with a pole vault of 1.69 meters. Littrel (200, 31.35), Bennett (300 hurdles, 1:00.45) and Lily Willis (discus, 23.17m) earned four points each with fourth-place finishes. Jenna Keller (400, 1:11.15), Cross (100 hurdles, 21.1) and Austin Lewis (long jump, 4.44m) were fifth (2 points). Addyson Bunnell (9th, 200), Lindsay (7th, discus), Kelsey Sparks (8th, discus), Haven Stufflebean (9th, javelin) and Willis (8th, shot) had top-ten performances. Coldon Parrent helped record 28 team points. He won the 100m dash in 12.36, was fourth in the long jump (5.29m), anchored the 4x100 relay team (Kendrell Carter, Kameron Perry, Aidden Buckner) to second, and helped the 4x400 relay team (Wyatt Garber, Bridger Grimshaw, Perry) to finish third (3:58.75). Perry collected another 10 points, winning the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 11.92 meters, and Siope Pulu won the javelin with a throw of 40.09 meters and was fourth in the shot (11.47m) for 14 points. Grimshaw was second in the pole vault (11.29m) and third in the 300 hurdles (47.01) for 14 more points, while Garber was third in the triple jump (11.29m) for six additional points. Buckner (100, 12.66) was fourth (4 points), Ekene Chukwu (discus, 35.38m) was fifth (2 points) and Carter (100, 12.83) was sixth (1 point). Buckner (9th, 200), Garber (7th, 400), Calvin Varner (10th, 1600), Pulu (10th, discus) and Chukwu (10th, shot; 10th, javelin) had top-10 performances.
