The Bulldogs track & field team traveled to Maryville on Saturday for the Northwest Missouri Indoor High School Kick-Off held at the Hughes Fieldhouse at NWMSU. The Bulldogs performed well at the ever growing meet.
Samantha Sharp, who is recovering from a knee injury suffered a year ago, led the girls with a first in the 3200-meter run (12:07.97) and 4th in the 1600 (5:49.25). Kylin King was 5th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.95), and Clara Hoyt was 10th in the 800 (2:44.53) and 15th in the 1600 (6:29.51). The Bulldogs were 9th in the sprint medley relay (4:48.48). Jayden Keller (8.61), Austin Lewis (9:19) and Emree Littrell (9.22) were 23rd, 46th and 48th, respectively, in the 60-meter dash. King (29.35), Molly Cross (31.8) and Addyson Bunnell (32.0) were 25th, 45th and 47th, respectively, in the 200. Maggie Bennett (1:11.45) and Raylee King (1:13.36) were 32nd and 34th, respectively, in the 400. Lily Willis (3:15.08) was 28th in the 800. Bennett (11.28) and Cross (12.4) were 24th and 38th, respectively, in the 60 hurdles. Lewis (4.31m) and Willis (3.63m) were 21st and 36th, respectively, in the long jump. Willis (8.54m) and Lilly Lindsay (7.17m) were 24th and 37th, respectively, in the shot put. Kameron Perry led the boys with a 6th-place finish (11.94m) in the triple jump, and Bridger Grimshaw (57.68) was 16th in the 400. The Bulldogs were 15th in the sprint medley relay (4:12.04). Coldon Parrent 7.69), Aidden Buckner (7.85) and Kendrell Carter (8.0)were 25th, 33rd and 41st, respectively, in the 60-meter dash. Parent (25.83) and Buckner (26.43) were 31st and 34th, respectively, in the 200. Calvin Varner (1:03.27) and Wyatt Garber (1:04.14) were 36th and 38th, respectively, in the 400. Varner (5:40.58) was 20th in the 1600. Ekene Chukwu (10.91m) and Maksim Kerns (9.79m) were 40th and 43rd, respectively, in the shot. "Our kids did very well for their first meet of the season, all while having to compete against big schools such as Blue Springs, Park Hill, and Millard South - the biggest school in the Omaha metro area, "Coach Sassie Wilson proudly exclaimed. "We weren't looking for places, but we asked the kids to just compete and give us their best effort. We are very pleased with where the team is starting off!"
