Brookfield scored nine runs in the fourth inning and cruised to a 13-3 win against Glasgow in yesterday's varsity diamond action. It was the Bulldogs fifth victory in a row, and seventh win in the past eight games.
The Bulldogs were held scoreless with just one hit in the first three innings, while the Yellow Jackets plated a run on a two-out RBI single in the 2nd. Brookfield came alive in the 4th. Three consecutive base hits scored one run, and four walks, an error, and a groundout led to six more runs. Riley Hinckle capped the scoring barrage, knocking in a pair with a single to center. The 'Dogs piled on in the 5th with a Bryson Shoop RBI sacrifice fly and error, and Peyton Parn followed three batters later with a bases clearing double to left, making the score 13-1. The Jackets scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the final margin. Hinckle (2 RBI) and Gage Ludington (RBI, 2B, 2 runs) each had two hits, while Peyton Parn (4 RBI, 2B, BB, run), Colton Parn (RBI, 2 runs), and Hank Parks (RBI, run) had a hit apiece. Bryson Shoop (2 runs) had two RBI, and Trayce Switzer (3 BB, run), and Garret Wood (run, SB) each added an RBI. Ryder Techau (BB) scored twice. Hinckle earned the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs on four hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He had two strikeouts. Colton Parn got the last two outs, allowing one hit and fanning the final batter. The Bulldogs (7-7) will honor their seniors in Thursday's home tilt against Salisbury. Story by: Dennis Hughes
