Clara Hoyt, Jayden Keller and Kylin King qualified for sectionals in Saturday's Class 2 District 3 track and field meet at Monroe City.
Hoyt qualified with a 3rd (13:33.50) in the 3200-meter run, and a 4th (6:13.66) in the 1600. Keller was third with a season-best 28.25 in the 200-meter dash, and King followed in 4th in 28.39. Maggie Bennett was 5th in a season-best 17.98 in the 100 hurdles, just missing out on a top-four finish to qualify for sectionals. King was 6th in the 400, and Breckin Thudium, was 10th in the discus. Molly Cross (100 hurdles, 19.8), Lilly Lindsay (Shot Put, 7.73m), and the 4x200 (1:56.95) and 4x400 (4:35.74) relay teams scored season bests. Bridger Grimshaw was 6th in the 300 hurdles (46.71) and 6th in the pole vault (3.25m), Kameron Perry was 7th in the 400 with a season-best 56.07, and Ekene Chukwu was 10th in discus (35.21m) for the Bulldogs' boys. The 4x200 relay team finished 10th in a season-best 1:40.25, while Calvin Varner ran the 1600 in a season-best 5:37.51. The Lady Bulldogs trio will next run in the Class 2 Sectionals 2 meet at South Callaway High School in Mokane. Story by: Dennis Hughes
