Brookfield demonstrated their mettle capturing multiple medals at Thursday's Gary Ferguson Relays, dominating the 10-school field. The Lady Bulldogs finished first in the team results with 123 points, outdistancing runner-up Princeton by 42 points. The boys finished second with 81 points, well behind a talented Newton-Harris team (140).
Samantha Sharp returned to her winning ways in the 3200, lapping the field in 12:33.54. She also won the 1600 (5:47.77), was second in the 800 (2:41.44) and anchored the first-place 4x800 relay team. Sharp accounted for 38 team points. Kylin King won the 400 in 1:05.4 and ran the third leg of the 4x800, second leg of the 4x100 and the anchor leg of the 4x400, contributing 34 points. The relay teams accounted for 32 points. The 4x800 (Jenna Keller, Clara Hoyt, King and Sharp) won in 11:39.79, while the 4x200 (Addyson Bunnell, Jayden Keller, Emree Littrell, Maddie Wilbeck) and the 4x400 (Jayden Keller, Littrell, Jenna Keller, King) relay squads were second in 2:00.06 and 4:50.61, respectively. The 4x100 team (Wilbeck, King, Littrell, Jayden Keller) was third (56.26). Jayden Keller took second in the 200 (30.06), contributing 30 points, and Lilly Lindsay was second in the shot (8.65m) and 6th in discus (24.08m) for nine points. Hoyt was responsible for 24 points. She was second in the 3200 (14:42.48), 4th in the 1600 (6:38.03), 5th in the 800 (2:58.71) and ran the second leg of the winning 4x800 relay team. Maggie Bennett contributed 14 points, finishing second in the 100 hurdles (18.81) and third in the 300 hurdles (59.24). Littrell was 5th in the 200 (31.91), Haven Stufflebean was 5th in the javelin (24.82m), and Molly Cross was fifth in both the 400 (1:14.42) and 100 hurdles (21.16). Austin Lewis was was 7th in long jump (4.33m) and 11th in the 100 (15.39), and Lily Willis was 7th in discus (22.38m), 8th in shot (7.38m) and 10th in the javelin (17.96m). Wilbeck was 10th in the 100 (15.32). Kendrell Carter won the boys 100 in 12.63, and ran the third legs of the winning 4x100 relay team (48.69) and second-place 4x200 team (1:41.9), accounting for 28 points. Coldon Parrent was second in the 100, just .06 behind Carter, in 12.69, and anchored the 4x100 and 4x200 relays and was third leg in the second-place 4x400 squad (4:03.24), responsible for 32 points. Kameron Perry finished second in the 400 (56.52), was 4th in the triple jump (10.77m) and ran in the 4x100 and 4x400, anchoring the latter, for 30 points. Bridger Grimshaw was second in the 300 hurdles (49.17) and led off the 4x200 and 4x400 relays, for 24 points. Aidden Buckner led of on the winning 4x100 relay, ran second leg in the 4x200 and was 4th in the 200 (27.03). Wyatt Garber ran second leg in the 4x400 relay and was 6th in the triple jump (10.35m), 8th in the 200 (29.05) and 10th in the 400 (1:04.93). Ekene Chukwu was third in the discus (35.43m) and 5th in shot (10.16m), while Maksim Kerns was 5th in discus (31.73) and 10th in the javelin (28.04). Calvin Varner finished 4th in the 1600 in 5:48.04). The Bulldogs next compete in Tuesday's Marceline Relays. Story by: Dennis Hughes
