Bryson Shoop knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs, as Brookfield went on to a 6-3 win against Macon in yesterday's varsity baseball matchup. It was the Bulldogs second straight win in as many days.
Hank Parks' RBI single in the first inning, and Trayce Switzer's RBI groundout in the third gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. The Tigers, who were held in check for the first three innings, took advantage of four walks, scoring three runs in the top of the 4th to go up, 3-2. However, the 'Dogs answered in the bottom of the frame. Riley Hinckle singled, and was safe at second on a sacrifice bunt by Garret Wood. Ross Ehrich was then plunked by a pitch to load the bases. Shoop's one-out line drive to left scored Hinckle and Wood, and Switzer's ground ball error scored Ehrich, giving Brookfield a 5-3 lead. Ryder Techau added an insurance run in the 6th with his two-out RBI single. Hinckle set the Tigers down in order in the next two innings, pitching six complete innings for the win. He allowed three earned runs on two hits and six walks, while fanning three. Colton Parn, who had a hit, run and stolen base, pitched a scoreless 7th for the save. Shoop (run) led the Bulldogs with two hits and two RBI, and Hinckle, Parks and Techau each added a base knock and RBI. Switzer had an RBI, and Ehrich (HBP) and Wood each scored runs. The Bulldogs seek the third straight win tonight, hosting the Thunder from Brunswick/Keytesville/Northwestern. Story by: Dennis Hughes
