The B-Liner

Lady Dogs Top Tigers

9/13/2024

Brookfield won its third straight game, rallying to beat Macon, 5-4, in Tuesday's varsity softball action.

Macon scored twice in the bottom of the 6th, taking a 4-3 lead, but the Bulldogs would answer in the top of the 7th. Tylynn Almond (1B, BB, 2 runs) and Emree Littrell (2 hits, 2B, 2 runs) reached on one-out base hits, and two-out RBI singles by Gracyn Beckman (1B, RBI, SB) and Ashlyn Calvert (2 hits, RBI, run, SB) gave the 'Dogs the lead back.

The Tigers made it interesting, loading the bases in the bottom of the frame, but the Bulldogs extinguished the rally attempt.
Mya Sackrey (RBI, SB) and Greenlee McCollum (2B) each collected two hits, and Hadlye Sackrey (Sac Bunt, BB) added an RBI for the Lady Bulldogs (5-2).

Hadlye Sackrey hammered a two-out, three-run home run, guiding Brookfield past Trenton, 3-2, in Thursday night's varsity softball tilt.

Trenton plated a pair of runs in the first inning, taking a 2-0 lead into the home half of the third.

With one out, Mya Sackrey (1B) bunted for a base hit, and Tylynn Almond (BB, run) followed with a walk. Emree Littrell (1B, HBP, run) laced a single, but Sackrey was thrown out at the plate for the second out. Trenton's joy soon turned to dismay however, as Hadlye Sackrey's second home run of the young season prompted a buzz of elation and motivation in the Brookfield dugout and a 3-2 lead the 'Dogs would not relinquish.

Solid pitching by both squads took over, though Trenton threatened in the 6th, loading the bases with one out. Brookfield got the next two outs and then set Trenton down in order in the 7th.

Ashlynn Calvert reached base twice with a single and a walk, and Greenlee McCollum worked a walk for the Lady Dogs (6-2), who won their fourth straight game and third in the past four days. They beat Penney, 8-4, on Monday.

Brookfield completed the sweep with a 6-1 win in the JV game, snapping a 1-1 tie with a five-run 4th-inning outburst.

Milee McCollum (1B, run) and Holly Sensenich (3B, BB, 2 runs) each drove in two runs to key the rally. Gracie Daller, Lily Willis and Abby Rollison spearheaded the parade, each collecting a base hit and a run. Addi Bagley added a single and a stolen base, and Piper Thudium coaxed a walk for the JV Lady Bulldogs. (4-2-1), who beat Penney and tied with Macon earlier in the week.
