Brookfield's track & field team was finally able to enjoy a warmer and somewhat windless meet, and many of the Bulldogs took advantage, turning in season bests in yesterday's Brookfield Open Meet #2. The boys team had a particularly solid day winning six events and taking the team competition with 169 points. Putnam County was second with 165.5 points, followed by Marceline with 153.5. The girls team was second to Marceline (200) with 147 points, but won five events. Putnam County was third with 121 points. Deacon Brown won two events and earned a team-high 32 points in the boys meet. He won the triple jump in a season best 10.75 meters and the long jump with a leap of 4.68 meters. He was third in both the high jump and 400. Vann Duncan also won two events and earned 24 points. He won the 100 meter hurdles in 17.76, tying his season best, and took the pole vault in a season best 2.43 meters. Duncan was also 5th in the 200 meter dash. Lewis Defries won the 800 in a season best 2:42.78, and was second in the 1600 in a season best 5:57.61 and 5th in long jump for 22 points. Ronnie Sharp won the high jump with a season best 1.35 meters, and he was 3rd in the discus with another season best, earning 16 points. Ryder Cochenour was second in three events - the 100 (SB), 400 (SB) and long jump, and was 6th in the 200 for 27 points. Jaxon Sibley (100, 200, 400), Conner Allen (100), John Foster (400, long jump), Eli Yates (800, 100 hurdles), Sawyer Hoerrmann (1600, triple jump), Emmet Haley (shot-SB, discus-SB), Aiden Glasgow (shot-SB, discus-SB), Lucas Long (shot) and Owen Sharp (shot) also scored for the Bulldogs. Rozlyn Severa won two events for the girls squad and earned a team-high 25 points. She won the 800 in a season best 3:01.07, the 1600 in 6:55.28 and was 5th in the high jump. Shayne Lumdsen also won two events, earning 20 points. She won the discus with a season best throw of 19.47 meters and the shot with a season best heave of 10.02 meters. Piper Thudium won the long jump in a season best 4.37 meters, while also assisting the 4x100 (Payslie Alexander, Lexi Littrell, Reese Neal - 57.8) and 4x200 (Holly Sensenich, Littrell, Neal - 2:04.51) relay teams to second-place and season-best finishes, for an additional 16 points. Sensenich was second in the triple jump with a season best 8.57 meters and 4th in the 400 for 13 points, and Littrell was second in the 200 in 29.93, scoring eight team points. Neal (100, triple jump), Alexander (100, long jump), Jovie Staddie (100), Madalynn Williams (200, 400, triple jump), Abby Rollison (200, long jump), Natalie Lovenduski (1600), Ruby Wilkerson (100 hurdles), Taryn Montgomery (discus-SB, shot), Ugochi Chukwu (discus-SB) and Kailynn Miller (shot) also scored for the Lady Bulldogs.
