Samantha Sharp won her third straight 3200-meter run this season, collecting over half of the Brookfield's girls' 57 team points in yesterday's Central Methodist University High School Invitational. The junior, who missed the cross country season due to injury, ran a time of 12:35.01, nearly a minute and a half ahead of the second-place finisher. She also won the 1600 in a season best 5:44.54 and was second in the 800 (2:43.41). Sharp, who tallied 28 individual points, anchored the 4x800 relay team (Clara Hoyt, Jenna Keller, Kylin King), which finished 2nd in 11:19.63 for another eight points.
The relay teams collected an additional eight points, with the 4x100 squad of Jayden Keller, King, Emree Littrell and Maddie Wilbeck finishing 5th in 57.19, and the 4x400 team (Jayden Keller, Jenna Keller, King and Maggie Bennett also 5th (4:58.38). Maggie Bennett collected seven points, finishing 6th in the 100 hurdles (18.88) and 5th in the 300 hurdles (58.01. Lilly Lindsay (6th in shot, 8.18m and 8th in discus, 23.73m) recorded three points, and Hoyt (7th in the 1600, 6:22.39) earned two points. Jenna Keller (800, 10th) and Lily Willis (discues, 10th) had top-10 results. In the boys' meet, Ekene Chukwu collected five points with his 4th-place result in the discus (34.37m). Bridger Grimshaw was 6th in pole vault (3.05m) and 8th in the 300 hurdles (47.38); Kameron Perry was 5th in the triple jump (11.5m); and Siope Pulu was was 5th in javelin (35.42m), each collecting four points. The 4x100 relay team (Perry, Aidden Buckner, Kendrell Carter, Coldon Parrent) was 5th in 48.98, and the 4x400 squad (Wyatt Garber, Grimshaw, Parrent, Perry) was also 5th in 4:18.17 for eight more points. Garber was 10th in the triple jump for the Bulldogs boys, who finished with 26 points. The Bulldogs travel Friday to Chillicothe for the Joe Shy Relays. Story by: Dennis Hughes
