Both teams were strong in the circle on Wednesday, but Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs defeated Putnam County 1-0. Ashlyn Calvert started the game for Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs and recorded 27 outs.
Calvert didn't allow a run. Though Putnam County did collect three hits.
Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs got on the board in the ninth inning after Makenna Munsterman singled, scoring one run.
R Gilworth took the loss for Putnam County. The starter went nine innings, surrendering one run on five hits, striking out 14 and walking two.
Munsterman led Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs with one run batted in. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Emree Littrell collected two hits for Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs in four at bats. Brookfield Varsity LadyDogs turned one double play in the game.
Gilworth went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Putnam County in hits. Putnam County were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. P Smith had the most chances in the field with 14.
