  • Lady Dogs Plaster Panthers

    Mya Sackrey and Ashlyn Calvert each cracked two-run doubles, and Greenlee McCollum belted a solo home run, as Brookfield beat Polo, 12-5, in varsity softball action. The Lady Dogs put the game away with a five-run fifth inning. McCollum added a single, stolen base and four runs on the day, while Sackrey coaxed three walks and had a single, stolen base and scored two runs, and Calvert had a single and run. Emree Littrell collected two base hits, two stolen bases and two runs, and Kylin King (SB, run), Lily Willis (RBI, BB, SB) and Austin Lewis had a base hit apiece. Gracyn Beckman (RBI, HBP) and Emma Sensenich (BB) each scored a run for the Lady Dogs (11-5). The JV Lady Dogs completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory. Holly Sensenich led the charge with two hits, three RBI and two runs. Taryn Montgomery also had a pair of hits, including a double, two runs and an RBI. Piper Thudium (HBP, RBI, run), Remi Berger (BB, RBI), Reese Neal (BB, SB, 2 runs) and Milee McCollum (run) each collected a base hit, and Molly Cross worked a pair of walks and scored a run for the Lady Dogs (8-2-1).   • Lady Dogs Serve Hornets

    Brookfield dominated Penney, dishing the Hornets a match-full of aces in a 25-18, 25-16, victory in JV volleyball action. Avery Garr led the serving barrage with nine aces and thirteen points, while Mallory Black (2 kills, assist) collected seven points and three aces, and Rylee White (2 kills, 2 digs) had six points and three aces. Andi Przyblyski (kill) had four points and two aces, and Ella Seaman (assist) ended the match with an ace for the Lady Dogs, who recorded 18 aces altogether. Natalie Hedrick had two assists, two digs and a kill; Chezni Renshaw had two assists and a dig; and Jaydon Head added a kill. Story by Dennis Hughes

  • Volleyball

    Brookfield lost to Trenton in straight sets, 25-14, 25-8, 25-9, in volleyball action. Chezni Renshaw led the Lady Dogs with two kills, four digs and an assist, while Emma Meyer collected a team-high nine digs to go along with an ace, kill and assist. Brylie Plagman had four digs, an ace and a kill, and Kyliah Galloway recorded four digs, a kill and assist. Kasey Perry had four digs, and Shayne Lumsden added one dig. Trenton escaped with a win, 25-11, 16-25, 25-21, in a close JV match. The Lady Dogs battled back from a set down to win the second set, and then let the match slip away in the final set. Andi Przyblyski served  a team-leading 13 points - including four aces and had two kills, while Rylee White collected two points, two kills, two assists and three digs, and Chezni Renshaw added a team-high nine digs to go along with three points and an ace. Mallory Black recorded eight points and a kill; Joceilynn Hoerrmann had five points and two kills; Avery Garr had three points with an ace and two digs; and Natalie Hedrick had two kills and two digs for the 'Dogs.   • Nan Carter Softball Tournament

    Brookfield won three straight games to claim second place in the Nan Carter Softball Tournament. The Lady Dogs dropped an 8-6 decision to Gallatin, before knocking off Trenton, 11-0, Platte Valley, 15-6 and Princeton, 8-2. Despite outclassing Trenton in their game, Brookfield lost out on "top-dog" honors due to a runs-allowed tiebreaker. Trenton allowed one less run than the 'Dogs to win the three-way tiebreaker, which also included Gallatin. The Lady Dogs started quickly in their opener, as Hadlye Sacrey cracked a two-run home run. However, Gallatin answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning and built an 8-3 lead after three frames. The 'Dogs battled back with three runs in the fifth, capped by a two-run double by Ashlyn Calvert, but could get no closer. The Lady Dogs regrouped against Trenton, scoring three early runs en route to a 6-0 lead after four. Greenlee McCollum's two-run triple and Mya Sackrey's two-run homer keyed a five-run burst in the fifth to put the game away. Brookfield cruised to a 13-0 lead against Platte Valley, fueled by Mya Sackrey's second two-run HR and Gracyn Beckman's grand slam. The Broncos batted around in the bottom of third, scoring six runs and making the game a focus of interest in regards to the tiebreaker. In the finale, Princeton plated a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Brookfield responded with a five spot, sparked by single RBI by the Sackrey duo and Calvert. The Lady Dogs added three more runs, while holding the Tigers scoreless the rest of the game. Mya Sackrey collected four hits, a walk, six RBI and eight runs, and Gracyn Beckman also had four hits - including a double, six RBI and four runs for the day. Ashlyn Calvert recorded five hits - including a double and triple, five RBI and two runs, while Hadlye Sackrey had three hits - including a triple, three RBI, seven runs and three walks; Emree Littrell had four singles, a walk and scored seven runs; and Greenlee McCollum added a single, triple, two walks, two RBI, five runs and stolen base. Austin Lewis (2 runs) and Kaecen Brown (HBP, BB, SB, 3 runs) had three and two hits, respectively.   • Bulldogs Cross Country

    Four Brookfield runners medaled at the Chillicothe Cross Country Invitational, with Calvin Varner leading the way. The steadily improving Varner set a new school course record, covering the 5000-meters in 21:20 (25th). Clara Hoyt medaled at 15th in the girls 5K, running a 25:32.   Megan LaBelle captured a medal with a 6th-place finish (19:39) in the JV girls two-mile event, and Landon Stufflebean was 13th in the JV boys two-mile race (16:12). Trace Knowles and Rozlyn Severa were both 4th in their respective middle school two-mile races.  Knowles set a new school course record with a time of 13:34, and Severa crossed the line in 15:35. ​Story by Dennis Hughes

  • Sharp Wins at Gans Creek

    Sam Sharp captured gold in the Varsity Girls White Division at the Gans Creek Classic. Sharp raced the Gans Creek course in 19:14.9, nearly 16 seconds ahead of her next pursuer in a field of 234 runners. Clara Hoyt was 44th in a time of 22:21.2, and Megan LaBelle came home in 31:10. Calvin Varner continued his pursuit of breaking the 20-minute barrier, crossing the line in 20:23.8. He was 98th in the field of 213 in the Varsity Boys White Division and set a new school course record. Landon Stufflebean finished in 26:27.4.  ​Story by Dennis Hughes

  • Five for Five

    Trayce Switzer tossed five touchdown passes, as undefeated Brookfield won its fifth consecutive game, knocking off Putnam County, 50-14. Switzer was 11-of-14 passing for 205 yards. Peyton Parn, who is closing in on the school record for career receiving yards, was the beneficiary of almost half the passing yardage, catching five balls for 99 yards and two TDs. Coldon Parrent had two receptions for 56 yards and a TD, and added 71 rushing yards on nine totes. Kameron Perry and Hayden DeJong had 23-yard and 20-yard TD catches, respectively.  Siope Pulu caught two passes and rushed for 30 yards and a score. However, his biggest contribution was creating havoc in the Putnam backfield. Pulu recorded 4.5 tackles, including three for loss and two sacks. He also had four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Lucky Poston led the Bulldogs' defense with 9.5 tackles, and Cooper Holland collected nine tackles. Peyton Parn recorded seven tackles, two for loss, and Devan Parn had six tackles, three for loss. Aidden Buckner (3 TFL, 1.5 sacks), Gabe Leonard and Ryder Techau each had 4.5 tackles.   • Volleyball

    Improved play as the match progressed and the presence of a vocal and encouraging group of varsity football players was not enough, as Brookfield fell to South Harrison, 25-9, 25-15, 25-20, in varsity volleyball action. Shayne Lumsden led the Lady Dogs with 4 kills and had an assist and a dig, while Brylie Plagman collected 3 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs, an assist and a block. Emma Meyer (3 kiils, 2 assists) had a team-high 5 digs, and Selena Curiel (ace, 2 digs) was the leader in assists with four. Kasey Perry recorded 2 aces, a kill, an assist and 4 digs; Kyliah Galloway had 2 aces, a kill, 2 assists and 3 digs; and Hailey Eichler had 2 digs. The Lady Dogs fell short in an exciting JV match, 22-25, 25-15, 25-12. Chezni Renshaw led the 'Dogs with 11 service points, including nine in a row to seal the come-back win in the first set. Renshaw served 2 aces, and added a kill, assist and 2 digs. Mallory Black collected 8 service points with 2 aces, 4 digs and a block, while Natalie Hedrick led the team with 3 kills, and Rylee White had a team-high 5 digs to go along with 3 points and 2 aces. Andi Przybylski recorded 2 points and an assist; Avery Garr had 3 points; and Joceilynn Hoerrmann added a kill.  ​Story by Dennis Hughes

  • Lady Dogs Whip Wolverines

    Brookfield blasted Maysville, 15-0, in varsity softball. The Lady Dogs took the bite out of the Wolverines, batting around in the 2nd and scoring 10 runs. Tylynn Almond (RBI, SB) scored three runs, while Greenlee McCollum (BB, RBI, SB), Mya Sackrey (3 BB, 2 SB), Ashlyn Calvert (BB), Kylin King (2 BB), Austin Lewis (3 SB) each scored two runs. Hadlye Sackrey (2B, BB, HBP, 2 RBI) and Emree Littrell (1B, SF, RBI) scored a run apiece, and Emree Littrell added a single, RBI and sacrifice fly for the Bulldogs (7-4). The JV Lady Dogs completed the sweep, 17-0. Remi Berger (1B, 2 BB) collected two RBI and scored three runs, while Lily Willis (1B) had two RBI and two runs, and Gracie Daller added an RBI to go along with two base hits and three runs to pace the 'Dogs. Holly Sensenich (HBP) scored three runs, and Makenna Munsterman (1B) scored twice. Reese Neal (2 BB), Milee McCollum (HBP), Molly Cross (BB) and Piper Thudium scored a run apiece.   • Lady Dogs Golf

    Kierstyn Sutch captured another top-5 result, leading Brookfield to a third-place team finish at the Salisbury Invitational. Sutch carded a 98 and a tie for 4th place. Her round included four pars over the par-70 Salisbury Municipal Golf Course. Maggie Bennett shot a 101 with a par and finished in a tie for 7th for the Lady Bulldogs, who totaled a score of 430, just one stroke behind South Shelby. Lexi Littrell had a par in her round of 114, while Riley Howell and Madalynn Williams each shot 117 and 123, respectively.  Story by Dennis Hughes

  • Lady Dog Grappler Conquers in Greece

    Jayden Keller proudly represented Brookfield and the United States with podium finishes at the U17 and U20 Beach Wrestling World Championships held in Greece this past weekend. The two-time defending Missouri state champion at 110 pounds wrestled in the equivalent weight class of 50kg, capturing a silver medal in the U17 division. Keller joined two American teammates, who also won silver, in leading the US to a team victory. The US squad finished with 60 points, 10 points ahead of France. Keller also placed 5th in the U20 division, helping the US squad to a second-place team finish. ​Story by Dennis Hughes
