College Day Information
College Day/Career Day Visits
Deciding where to obtain post-secondary education/training is a huge step and one that should not be taken lightly. Deciding the type of career one may want is also a crucial step toward one's future. These decisions regarding the future are ones that students need to begin thinking about much earlier than their senior year in high school. For that reason, BHS students are entitled to a certain number of College/Career Visits as long as all procedures and deadlines are met. An appropriately-arranged College/Career Visit absence will not be counted as an absence. For the purpose of clarification, the difference in a College Day Visit and a Career Day Visit is the following: a College Day is just that, a day that one goes to a college (two or four year) or technical school to take a tour of the campus, meet with professors, etc; a Career Day could be used for military recruiting processes or for genuine observation in the work setting of a professional in a specific type career. The following statements document the number of College/Career Days each class (with the exception of Freshmen) are offered:
College/Career Days are not cumulative! For example, a student may not wait until their senior year and be excused for six(6) days because he/she did not use them until his/her sophomore and junior years.
Applications for College/Career Days are located in the Guidance Office. Forms must be completed and submitted ideally two weeks before, but no later than five school days before the trip date. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the absence being counted against the student.
